Responsible Entertainment
Crystal Quarter is committed to promoting safe, balanced and responsible entertainment — and to featuring only hotels that do the same.
Last updated: 1 June 2026
Crystal Quarter is an independent guide to casino hotels in Auckland. At the hotels we feature, entertainment is one part of a wider hospitality experience that includes accommodation, dining, spa and events, and we believe it should always be enjoyed in moderation — as a form of leisure rather than a way to make money. This page sets out our commitment to responsible entertainment and the support available to anyone who needs it.
Entertainment, not online gambling
Crystal Quarter does not operate any hotel, casino, or online gambling, betting or money-gaming service. This website is an information guide only. It does not allow you to place bets, play for money or win cash prizes online. The entertainment facilities we describe are available exclusively on-site at the hotels we review, as part of the in-person guest experience.
Strictly for adults — 18 and over
Access to the entertainment areas at the hotels we feature is restricted to guests aged 18 years and over, and they may request valid proof of age. We do not market gambling to minors, and our website is not directed at anyone under the age of 18.
Our responsible entertainment principles
We only highlight hotels that take responsible entertainment seriously, and we encourage a balanced approach. The principles we believe in:
- Treating entertainment as recreation, never as a source of income or a solution to financial difficulty.
- Encouraging guests to set their own limits on time and spending, and to take regular breaks.
- Venues whose staff act with care and support guests who wish to step away.
- Promoting a calm, social atmosphere rather than pressure to continue.
- Respecting any guest’s decision to limit or stop their participation at any time.
Tips for keeping it enjoyable
If you choose to use these entertainment facilities, we encourage you to:
- Decide in advance how much time and money you are comfortable spending, and stick to it.
- Only spend what you can comfortably afford as part of your leisure budget.
- Take breaks, enjoy our dining and other amenities, and avoid extended sessions.
- Never use entertainment to recover lost money or to cope with stress.
- Avoid participating when tired, upset, or affected by alcohol.
Recognising when it is no longer fun
Entertainment should always feel relaxed and optional. It may be time to pause and seek support if you notice signs such as spending more time or money than intended, feeling anxious or low about your participation, or letting it affect your relationships, work or finances. There is no harm in stepping back, and support is always available.
